The Gardens

Discover the Award-Winning Gardens of Le Grand Dixcart B&B

Our award-winning gardens are at the heart of the Le Grand Dixcart B&B experience, offering a tranquil retreat where nature, history, and sustainability come together in perfect harmony.

Gardens are an essential part of Sark’s charm, and ours are no exception. The vibrant display of seasonal flowers is just the beginning. Originally designed with raised vegetable beds to supply the homestead—and later Stocks Hotel next door—the garden has blossomed into a highly productive and enchanting space.

Today, you’ll find an ever-expanding array of raised beds, a picturesque apple orchard, and the stunning Cedar Greenhouse, where delicate plants thrive. In 2013, we introduced our unique Permaculture Garden, which now provides an abundance of fresh vegetables and cut flowers for Le Grand Dixcart B&B and beyond. Adding to the charm, the garden is home to a flock of happy chickens, producing fresh eggs daily, and more recently, a thriving beehive.

Our dedication to horticultural excellence was recognised in 2018 when we proudly contributed to Sark’s winning entry in the Guernsey Britain in Bloom competition. Our gardens also earned their own Horticultural Excellence Award in 2018 and again in 2024, and are included in the prestigious National Garden Scheme.

Throughout the day, you may spot members of our dedicated garden team, led by head gardener Olivia, carefully tending to this lush sanctuary.

For those eager to explore even more, our guided garden tours have become a guest favourite. Tours take place on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday afternoons and can be reserved through Stocks Hotel reception, located next door to Le Grand Dixcart.

Come and experience the magic of our gardens—where beauty, sustainability, and a touch of history flourish together.
